Delete your account

You can permanently delete your Matcha Story account, and everything stored with it, at any time. Deletion is immediate and irreversible — we keep no copy and there is no recovery window.

Option 1 — delete it yourself in the app

The fastest route, and it takes effect straight away.

1. Open Matcha Story and go to the Profile tab.
2. Tap Settings.
3. Tap Delete account, then confirm.

Your account and data are erased at that moment. You are signed out and returned to the welcome screen.

Option 2 — request deletion by email

If you have already uninstalled the app, or you cannot sign in, email hello@matchastory.app with the subject “Delete my account”.

Please send it from the email address on the account, so we can confirm the request is yours — we will not action a deletion we cannot tie to an account. We will complete it within 30 days, and normally much sooner.

What gets deleted

• Your profile and the email address you signed in with
• Every tasting you logged — ratings, balance-beam scores, and your written notes
• All photos you attached to tastings
• Your palate history and the personalised recommendations derived from it

Anything held only on your phone, such as your reading progress in Learn, is removed when you uninstall the app.

What is not deleted

The café and drink catalogue is not personal data and is unaffected — it describes the cafés, not you.

Deleted records may persist briefly in encrypted infrastructure backups until those backups age out on their normal schedule. They are never restored into the live app.
